Tribeca Dental Exam
You may already be aware that you should have our
Tribeca dental exam and teeth cleaning two times per year, but we at Metropolitan Dental Associates PC are also here to deal with problems as they arise. From tooth pain and sensitivity to loose fillings, chipped teeth, sore or red gums, and jaw difficulties, you should never hesitate to reach out for the dental care you need.
Toothaches or sensitivity to hot or cold may mean that you have a cavity. It could also be the result of a loose or lost filling. And if the pain is severe enough, particularly when you apply pressure to the tooth or chew, it may mean you have an infection. If so, the solution is root canal therapy. Don't be nervous, though. Today's techniques and equipment have made it a virtually pain-free procedure. Of course, our Tribeca dental exam is designed to detect problems like cavities before they can lead to bigger challenges. This also includes sore or red gums, a typical indication of gingivitis, the early stage of gum disease. If addressed at that point, the treatment of choice is a teeth cleaning. You may need a second cleaning to deal with stubborn gum disease, but the bottom line is that you can prevent more concerning signs, such as those that would be present if you did not come in right away. A chipped tooth leaves you prone to bacterial infection inside the tooth, so getting a crown fitted to it promptly is essential. And any jaw pain needs to be evaluated. It could be TMJ disorder, a common jaw condition. Or it could be due to your occlusion (bite) becoming misaligned. This can be due to missing teeth, which allow the others to shift and throw your jaws out of sync.
